Eulogizing The Bengals 2007 Season
Filed under: Bengals, Cincinnati; No CommentsWhen it was said that it came down to all this week for the Bengals, it couldn’t have been more true. Win, and you’re essentially a half game out of the lead (one game back with a tiebreaker), but lose and you’re three and a half games back (three games and down the tiebreaker). It’s not that they played badly either, they just were not the better team, and 24-13 is likely a very adept comparison of the two teams. The Steelers are just more solid this year.
So that leaves a couple of questions now that the playoffs are nearly completely out of play unless the Bengals go 8-1 and end up with ten wins (not likely).
- Will the team quit on the season? There are egos at play, and Marvin doesn’t seem to have the strongest hold on this team. In fact (this will sound horrible to Bengals fans), he seems almost Lebeau-eqsue in his playcalling and actions lately.
- What do you care about for the remainder of the season? Do you want to see the offense put it back together, the defense tackle someone, or specific players come through? I would love to see Leon Hall and Jonathon Joseph progress to become high level cornerbacks, as that could mask a lot of problems with other problem areas.
- Who will the Bengals draft next year? The joke on my Facebook is already that they’re gonna get the third pick of the draft. It may not end up being that bad, but a Top 10 pick sure is realistic right now. Who do you want to see in Orange and Black out of college next year?
So, let it out … what are your thoughts? And, do you like me predict a 6-10 season with a strong finish that means nothing? Curses!

So … what are you doing this weekend?
In Columbus? Reading this blog? Busy? Don’t care about OSU? I can use your help! With being a homeowner now, I’m quickly realizing one thing … two people moving an entire way overgrown apartment just doesn’t work. The packing process itself is depressing … yes, as my wife reminded me of, it always looks worse before it looks better, but it still doesn’t seem like everything will be out of the way of the furniture before Saturday, and for that matter, it’s become apparent that we won’t be fully moved OUT until the rent’s done at the end of this month!
So, this is the official cry for help. Busy at 9 AM on Saturday? Throw me a comment below, now more than ever, I need ya help!
