I think since the talk is now going around the grapevines, I thought I would clear a couple of things up. My apologies for using a Barry Bonds style method for my madness (a.k.a. using just a web site).
I have decided to step down from running tournaments and helping organize the Anime conventions from Game Junkie, which effectively means, I’m not working there consistently anymore. I am going to still run the event on the 11th (Perfect Dark Zero) and will be there just as help on the 25th for the 3D Fighters event. The stress of the work began to outweigh the satisfaction of seeing the events come to fruition, which for me means that the best thing I can do is step away and remove myself from the stressful situations.
There are lots of things happening in my life … hopefully a new job in my future, a new city a little farther away, and a lot of time commitments, and I appreciate the support and gratitude of everyone for these things, but they can add up quickly, and so the things that should be fun, when they become not, need to be assessed.
I do want to nip one thing in the bud to make sure that there is no blame casting and finger pointing. My choice is the fault of no one, and was mine alone. There have been, shall we say, strongly worded discussions, both public and private that have happened, which I am sure have been discussed ad naseum through the grapevine, but that’s part of being in a position of organization, and there is no point now to the who and why and when of these things. I hold no grudges, and hope no one will hold any either.
Stephen will be taking all of the e-mails about tournaments and events in the short term, and I’m sure from anything outside of this blog post, there won’t be any interruptions. The shows will go on, and they will still be great, because while we as the employees and help may help make things go smoothly, it’s the participants and the fun that they have that make Game Junkie so, and its tournaments and event presence so special. I thank every one of them for the nice things and the support they’ve given me, it means the world!
All I ask of everyone reading this is to keep doing what you’re doing and keep supporting Matt, Stephen, and everyone at Game Junkie, because that’s exactly what I plan to do too. I have no desire to drop off the face of the earth and not see anyone. I love Game Junkie, plain and simple, and it holds a very special place in my heart. If it wasn’t for my working there, none of the great things in my life currently would have happened, plain and simple.
I look forward to enjoying life as a fellow regular again!!

Well Scott, you are amazing and I’m going to miss seeing you even less than I do now. You’ve bean a good friend, and certainly one of the most upbeat, positive people I’ve ever known. I was talking to Matt yesterday, I was worried about the state of things, what with this news, he had to inform me that you were in fact, “not dead”, and from this eloquent piece of literature, my mind is eased. You know I worry to much. You’ll still be around.
It seems like this is for the best, last I heard you had too much going on, (like you’ve ever not!) so hopefully you can sort everything out in this, your transitional period.
PS: You best still stop buy Punch at some point, Anime Conventions without you would just be Weeeeeird.
Well, especially after having 2 days to think about it all (this all happened Tuesday), it makes me look forward that much more to just coming in, and playing games and having fun. It really has been a long time since I’ve had fun with video games and playing them, and while running the tournaments has been immensely gratifying (it’s great to see them bigger and better then they have ever been), just coming in on a Saturday to PLAY in one (and maybe get my butt kicked, but it’s ok) sounds even better!
And don’t worry, at this point, I’d have to think that I’m at least in for some help at the anime conventions … I’m gonna look at it closer once those times get closer, but yeah, I’d be nuts to NOT be at Anime Punch for a little bit of the time, lord, I’ll be 5 minutes away when I’m NOT at there cause I’ll be at Danielle’s apartment (and if I can ever find a job up there, my apartment too!)
I look very much forward to our friendship only getting better … and involving more Off The Wall practice!
Hey Scooter! You were the first person who I really got to know at Game Junkie, thus it does hurt to see you go. I am sure Stephen will be able to fill the shoes you left open, along with Greg and Ben at the same time.
David Sanford also sends his regards.
Thank you David, I really appreciate it! You know, now on these days when I stop in, I might actually be able to take you and Ben up on the promise to finally learn some Naruto 4 skills.
Nothin’ but love over here, bud. Now get your candy ass over to Princeton Bowl tomorrow night for some bowling goodness!
We love you Scooter! Keep us posted on all your news and we look forward to seeing you around Game Junkie!
