More LifeHacker Goodness!
Filed under: Links, LiveJournal; No CommentsThese are raw links, per se … I haven’t looked at ‘em yet, but as I do, I will add comments.
Swap gift cards online - I was hoping this would be a very comprehensive place to get gift cards at maybe 10% to 20% off, but none of the sites had much in the way of selection, I was a bit disappointed.
Directions: Slacker Dot-Com [NYT] - A quickie look at Kevin Smith’s web empire that gets 100,000 hits every single day. Anything Kevin Smith will get props in my book.
Hack Attack: Motivate yourself - Tips on making a list of goals and sticking to them. I need to apply these goals to my game beating prowess, or lack thereof, so that I can more thoroughly enjoy gaming in 2006.
Download your voicemail with GotVoice - Takes your existing voice mail on your phone and converts it to MP3’s to download from the web. Freaking cool idea, I’m now officially testing it!
How to get free stuff to give away - Hopefully I can use this chart to get some free products to give away at our future tournaments.
Geek to Live: Web-based text files with Yahoo! Notepad - I actually use this service already to assist with tournament setups and moving lists of people from one machine to another. For these purposes, it’s great. Although I may want to go the wiki route, I’ve heard so much good stuff about www.pbwiki.com
Use a wiki for your family’s holiday lists - Speaking of, I could use it for this purpose too!

LifeHacker Links for 12/20/05
Filed under: Links, LiveJournal; No CommentsThere’s a site I do enjoy called LifeHacker … it’s got some elements of geek to it but it mixes these things with the right batch of common sense in how people use these powers of geek to actually make life go smoother.
Here’s some links on today’s front page that came out and grabbed me:
Featured Reader Desktop: LiquidBlaze - This is how desktops should look! Very neatly put togerher, streamlined for a few uses, but not over the top. Finally, a decent Active Desktop usage.
Yahoo! Open Shortcuts - I’d like to see someone give this a shot and see if it’s goods, it looks like it is. It’s nice to see Google and Yahoo trying to 1-up each other in the field of useability … eventually I’m sure my blog will be hosted by one of them (except I like LJ too much)
Open Business Directory: Yellowikis - This looks like a new way for people to look up companies and information via the wiki format. Let’s just hope it doesn’t have all the negatives of a wiki too (just ask Adam Curry about that!)10 Apps Every New Mac User Should Download - Haven’t read this either but I have a sense that I have a few of these apps already.
How to run another OS on your PC - I think I’ve posted on this before but it’s the method on how to use the free VMWare Player to run any OS that you want for nothing. This is a program I need to play with more in the future, good stuff here too.
