Survival Football Reset
Filed under: Blogger, Fantasy Sports; No CommentsThis is a public service to our friends who are NFL ballers, like Kevin and Stephen and all of the GJ guys (including Adam, who if his picking skill is an indication, is a closet football fan!) …
Survival Football has been RESET!
If you want to join up, you can do so again now. Just goto http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/survival/
and then choose to join a private group. Our group ID is 4574, and the password is pixel. There’s 7 of us in it so far, Pat Jeanneret won the first go around, and myself and Matt tied by both losing last week, and with the NFL being the random thing it is, who knows who’s gonna win next.
Anyways, us sports junkies are having fun with this, so now you can join up and get involved, and we’d love ya to.
P.S. - Anyone up for Hot Shots Golf PSP on Thursday evening at the store?

Well, the Jack Thompson ordeal has taken on a life of its own, even over and above his bungling comments of a couple of months ago. It seems as if he’s content to now throw away everything he just said a week or so ago about his little “$10,000 promise” by saying that he’s just “kidding”.
Let’s get something straight. There is one thing lawyers (or wanna-be politicians do). KID. They lie, yes, they lie and lie often (especially on this stage), but they don’t just act like they’re kidding.
So when Penny Arcade decided to take Jack up on his little proposition and put their money where their mouth is, it effectively put Jack into the place of being another talking head that really didn’t have anything to say. Well, nothing to say except words that will pull on the heartstrings of the public outcry, but not hit at the true problems.
So what does Jack do when he’s called to the carpet and the grassroots of gamers publicly states they don’t respect his statements? He threatens to sue or file criminal charges against Penny Arcade. Selling a shirt saying “I Hate Jack Thompson” is slanderous? I suppose if you have the money to buy Alan Dershowitz as your attorney maybe, but God forbid we allow non-offensive expressions of speech on a T-Shirt just cause he doesn’t like it!
I go back and forth on something … what I think Jack Thompson is aspiring to be. Part of me thinks it’s Hillary Clinton and a politician, the other part of me thinks it’s the late Johnny Cochran, a hot shot attorney who gets all the big cases. If he wants to feel the way he does, that’s fine, but he’s so outplayed his hand that he cannot win now. This is the time where he needs to remember when to hold ‘em … and more important, when to fold ‘em, cause if he was trying to win the court of public opinion, he’s lost.

My poor friend Adam … he’s such a fan of Lost, and while this won’t stop him from downloading it and placing it on his PSP, the only way he’s going to legally get Lost now, is on the device I love and that he despises … an iPod!
Actually, I’m impressed with what Steve Jobs did today with the iPod line. He made consise differences between the models, but he didn’t mess with what makes the iPod so cool and so easy to use. Here’s my thoughts.
* Yes, the iPod does video now, but the thing is, this is now integrally part of the big iPod systems. They did not change a good thing, just to add video. If you just wanted the iPod for music, you buy the big one and now you get a 30 gig model for the old 20 gig price, no worries, you can use it for music and really have the same experience you would have had anyways. I think it’s extremely smart of Steve Jobs to not have a whole new design, stick with what works.
* This also puts the nano in its own market even moreso by itself. If you want music only, this means Apple will be pushing you towards the smaller and more sleek nano, but if you want video or lots more space, the old iPod design is still there. Differentiating the markets I think will help both models sell better.
Is it perfect? No. I don’t know if this will replace my PSP for movie watching (then again, I’ve barely had time to use THAT for movies!), but I will definitely give it a look.

I lost … my Toyota lost again!
Filed under: LiveJournal, Personal; No CommentsIn the neverending struggle between machine and much freaking bigger machine, my machine was sadly the smaller of the two. I present pictures:

These were 36 hours after the wreck. Initially, the truck closed, but after hitting bumps when driving, it unhinged. Initial estimate, $3,500 … thank god for Insurance!
By the way, never trust kids driving full size RAM trucks with the logos all over the back, it makes for apparently a bad combination!
