So when I got to work today, I realized why the drive was so dark: I was short one head lamp! Just what I didn’t need about 36 hours before road tripping to see Danielle in Columbus. But, since I do know people, who know people, who aren’t car idiots people, who know people, I pulled the car into the shop, and 2 minutes later, the light’s in there, pull car back into parking lot, brush large sums of salt stock off my jeans, and voila!

In news of slight suckage, I think after 11 months of my car looking ghetto, I’m gonna get the back light fixture looking good again. Gonna cost me 80 bucks, but from what I hear, that’s not bad. AND, gonna get the mateniance caught up on Wednesday.

The end result? Yeah, no games for me this week in the budget! Glad it’s the slow season. :-)

So today, as of this moment, 3:42 PM, and as of the moment I type this, I’m in Lexington, and this time, for once, it’s not for work! (I’ve already been to Carrollton for work once this week). It’s for the semi-annual dentist pilgrimage!

For those of you that don’t know (and that’s prolly more then not), my cousin Brian, after going through school and playing NAIA level basketball, and going to UK Densitry school, he’s now in a practice with his dad-in-law and doing quite well. Thankfully for me and the rest of the family, he’s darn good at what he does too!

So once he got into Dentistry school and it was clear he was going to be a dentist, we switched and started coming down here to go to the dentist as a family (now there’s some scary family bonding for you!), I guess for about four or five years now. And it’s been good, even though I DID find out I had three cavities about two years back (although according to Brian, they were brewing prolly since I was a kid), but that’s all good now.

So I guess in one aspect, the actual trip to the dentist part of the deal is secondary to just meeting back up with friends and talking to people. I’ve had the same hygenist, Nancy, the whole time, and she’s just a sweetheart, was married when I met her, not anymore, has a young girl, so we’re always talking about how we’re each doing, and needless to say, I prolly won’t stop talking about Danielle the entire time I’m talking to her, except when I’m asking how her daughter is (she’s cute as a button!), all of this while I’m being worked on, and prolly most of the time with the tools in my mouth, so it’s gonna come out all garbled and weird sounding.

This is certainly good for my Uncle Wayne … his gift this year was about $5,000 of dental work to fix any problems with his teeth and make them as white and straight as could possibly be. Guess it’s good to have doctors in the family! (I have a cousin who is a dentist and an uncle whom is a general practice doctor in Louisville).

Oh yes … I’m still coughing and sniffling but it’s getting better, thank goodness for the off-brand Sudafed Cold & Cough!

So a high school in Washington was going to hold a Halo 2 tournament. The proceeds would go to the tsunami effort for the Red Cross. Sounds good, right?

Well, there is the catch of Halo being M rated. Well, most high schoolers should be rational enough to discern fantasy violence from real violence, but these kids were smart and figured the school would be a pain, so the parent of every kid who signed up had to sign a release form saying it was ok to let their kid play this game in this event.

The school STILL cancels it! Yet another case of good logic gone bad.

Have I mentioned anytime recently that Get Fuzzy rocks? It’s the comic I get in my inbox every day (I was getting Dilbert too but it stopped showing up, prolly a change in web site thing).

It’s about three characters primarily. Rob, the owner of the cat and dog, Satchel (named for the famous Negro League pitcher) and Bucky, named for, what else, his tooth! Satchel is the gullible loving “man’s best friend” kind of dog, where Bucky is the smart-mouthed pain in the butt cat who always has something to say.

See some Garfield referneces here? You should, the format is like a modern-day Garfield in a lot of ways with some twists, more in your face stuff, plenty of sports references (Rob, and the real life writer Darby Conley are huge Red Sox fans!), and a lot of general chaos which makes it go.

Good reading, well worth the time to check it out! Let me know if it’s in any local papers, I know it’s big enough that it gets its own calendars, I’m happy to say I just bought the 2005 day-to-day Get Fuzzy .. for $4!

Yikes, like no posts in a week!

Guess that’s what happens when I am running around like a loony and not feeling well! Felt like crap yesterday from sinuses, sore throat, coughing, probably allergies at their worst. It started Monday. There’s something in the office here that makes my allergies go nuts, and it hit me particularly hard, and now it’s Wednesday and with the help of some NyQuil and Advil Cold & Sinus (NOT at the same time!), I’m getting back to normal again. Just as long as I’m feeling ok for Saturday!

This past weekend was more of everything that I’ve written here in Danielle coming down to see me … everything is just getting better and better every week, not to mention, Sunday was “meet the parents” day, and that went wonderfully too. There isn’t anyone that Danielle has met in either my group of friends or family that they haven’t thought she was awesome, and I agree tenfold! Even on a day like today where I’m sniffling, coughing, and catching up on work (Tuesday sucked at the main job but today has been much better), it’s all good cause I have Danielle in my life!

More posting later, but one addition … curse that Corey Dillion for scoring a touchdown the other day! I think I have some bitterness issues with him. :-)

Do you have your Madden game ready go to? Well if you do, you can have fun on this off-week before the Super Bowl and play in our Pixel Bowl 2 featuring Madden 2005!

The rules are very simple: 3 minute quarters, a full double elimination tournament, all 32 teams are playable, and most importantly, bring your own controller! The entry fee is also quite simple: a flat $5, even if you don’t come in until the day of the event!

We’ll be giving away a fun football marked for the event, as well as hopefully great prizes, and as you well know, the more people whom enter, the bigger the event and the bigger the pool of prizes that you could win!

You can find out more about the event from our store’s website as well, www.gamejunkie.com, where we also have a calendar of all of our events available for your perusal. A page linking directly to this tournament is there as well.

If you have any questions about the tournament, you can e-mail me HERE as well. Hope to see you there, and most importantly, tell friends!!

One of my favorite sports writers cause when it all comes down, he’s as much of a fan as anyone and he gets it more then anyone.

I happen to like Peyton Manning more then he does cause I think he exudes class, but there is fact to what he says, and even though I want the Steelers to win this week cause of Big Ben, I have nothing but respect for the Patriots.

Except Corey Dillon. I don’t care if he’s happy, live it for the 8 years here when it’s tough before I show you ANY love.

… and that’s worst case scenario.

It will be 8 PM Saturday. I will be at the store, watching a bunch of very gifted gamers try and win some bank playing Halo 2. The bracket will count down ’til there’s no one left, and I’ll know what’s happening kinda.

Then Danielle will walk through the door and Halo will never have mattered so little! (Except I have to remain somewhat professional … darn!)

Yeah, she’s meeting me at the game store this weekend since I have to work the whole day doing a Halo 2 Tournament, which, so that Matt doesn’t panic, IS some of the most fun that we have at the store no doubt! So if you want to meet the love of my life, you know where to be and when to be there .. look for the sappy grin you can see a mile away!

But really, we talk every night now, and one of us will give a wake up call to the other every morning now. How cool is that! Even if we’re 100 miles apart, she’s the last voice I hear every night, and the first voice I hear every morning. No, she’s not here, I could only wish for that, but it has to be the sweetest thing there could be. All this and technically, our love is but a little over a month old (if you count phone calls). I’m glad that has the prefix technically, cause love isn’t technical, it defies logic, and breaks every law of physics. When it hits, it’s a stronger principle then any of those things.

And now, it’s only 46 hours 45 minutes. Say a prayer that it doesn’t snow much until she’s here for me, k? :)

    * Still no props to Mother Nature. 4 more inches of snow? C’mon, have I mentioned the importance of nice clean interstates though the middle of Ohio recently? This is important stuff, and accumulations that cover the road simply aren’t good! :)

    * Props to the Bengals (is that twice? Yes, be scared). I heard their new defensive coordinator talking tonight and he seems like he’s majorly got his head on his shoulders, and he’s coordinated a Super Bowl team. I’m definitely looking forward to attending some games next year, and how cool would another Monday Night game be!

    * Props to text messaging in general. Nothing is better then seeing a text message from Danielle halfway through a stressful day. Suddenly, it doesn’t matter.

    * Props to my Camry. I have a co-worker with a car with 25,000 miles on it (a Ford Focus) which breaks down about every time it’s due for an oil change. My only problems are other-driver induced.

    * Props to newsgroups … they are the only part of the internet that can make my not worry about losing 4 gigs of music cause I can get it all back. Heck, I even re-found the Tales Of Symphonia OST!

And finally …. props to it being Thursday. Read up, there’s more on that.
