Yesterday, in a day that began badly and ended up being alright, I remembered how my mom always told me to clean up my room. I’ll be danged if every now and then, it doesn’t actually help me out!
I say this … up until Sunday evening, my room was cluttered mess, stuff in every corner, a closet door packed with stuff so full that the door wouldn’t close, not to mention the tray table blocking it. My bedroom had no room, and it didn’t leave me with any sense of optimism for the day ahead of me.
The first change was free and very cool: I got a futon! Actually, one of the couch / fold-out bed style futons, which is great. The thing is monsterous as a couch so much so that I’m most comfortable sitting on it indian style (and I’m not small, so that gives you an idea). As a bed, it’s the same size as my old bed was. The futon mattress is a little weak, so its support isn’t perfect, but the advantage is … it was free! I can always buy a new futon mattress later, and when it’s a couch, my room completely opens up.
It also gave me the incentive to clean in there. Three bags of garbage later, it’s not perfect, but it’s sure much closer.
More to this post later.
